Hi there, I just wrote up the Spell Focus: Fade article, only to realize that I killed the Spell Focus: Power Word: Shield a few seconds after putting it online. Gaaah!
Whatever… I don’t have the time to write it up again right now, so I’m posting some links and news from the top of my head. Hopefully, it’ll be of some value to you.
Wowhead - World of Warcraft Database. The one!
WoWWiki - The "official" World of Warcraft Wiki. Vastly useful!
WoW Model Viewer - A very nice and handy tool to get your grubby hands on some of the goodness hidden inside those MPQ files. Very useful if you want to spice some up the design of your WoW Blog, for example.
Antiarc’s WoW Armory Tools - A small collection of PHP scripts that connect to the official WoW Armory and generate listings and signatures from it. Quite handy, but a bit outdated right now.
Be Imba! - An online character auditor for WoW. It will try to evaluate your talent distribution, your equipment and your gems and enchants. It’s a fun and handy tool, but you should take it with a grain of salt.
Loot Rank for WoW - This site is able to generate a gear listing from all available gear, based on your prioritisation of stats.
Warcrafter - This is a full features character sandbox. You can import, edit and play with all character options to simulate gear upgrades, talent changes, and other things. It’s quite powerful and easy to use.
Wow Web Stats - Widely known and valued, this online site parses and hosts combat logs. It breaks them apart and provides a very nice and powerful interface to navigate through any aspect of your logged raid.
chardev.org - Yeah, another character planner. I know, sue me.
WoW Heroes - Is another character auditor, just like Be Imba!. However, this one is able to compare 2 characters to each other, but lacks a bit in the depth department.

I’m not sure I get it how you ‘killed’ your other post, but you can always use google cache.

Description
Power Word: Shield (Rank 12)
600 Mana, 40 yd range
Instant cast, 4 sec cooldown
Draws on the soul of the party member to shield them, absorbing 1265 damage. Lasts 30 sec. While the shield holds, spellcasting will not be interrupted by damage. Once shielded, the target cannot be shielded again for 15 sec.
Power Word: Shield is a nice utility spell that can be used on many occasions. It will not heal, but rather prevent a sizeable amount of damage taken by the target. It helps to ease out spiky damage, protects low-armored allies from being smeared by frenzied hordes of adds and helps you solo mobs without getting interrupted on every swing.
Strengths
Power Word: Shield is one of the very few reliable damage prevention spells. Additionally it’s instant cast and as such can be used while repositioning or flying through the air. It may be used to easy spiky damage by dropping it in occasionally. Do this only if your tank is rage-capped and you can afford the global cooldown. Other than that it prevents spell pushback which is also very handy on numerous situations.
Weakness
However, Power World: Shield cannot replace healing spells. First and foremost, it has a cooldown of 4 seconds. Additionally, any single target cannot be shielded more than once every 15 seconds. Rage-dependant tanks don’t like to be shielded most of the time. It hinders their rage generation. In conclusion, Power Word: Shield is a rather expensive spell when compared to your other healing spells. Especially when considering that it only uses about 20% of your +healing stat.
When & how to use
Protect the mage that nukes the adds. Shield Aran’s current target while running away from the Blizzard. Protect yourself from damage and spell pushback from that stray add that found your way to you. If damage can be anticipated or may be predicted, popping a Power Word: Shield on the target may be a good idea.
Image Power Word: Shield as some kind of safety belt. If things go wrong you have a chance to instantly stall of incoming damage, buying you time to get off a healing spell that is not instant cast. If someone is assaulted by critical damage and you need to bring him up fast, start with a Power Word: Shield, then Prayer of Mending and then Flash Heal to create a padding.
When not to use
Don’t use it if a target is not in danger of taking critical damage soon. A well-placed Renew is only a global cooldown away too, and it heals more damage than Power Word: Shield may prevent.
As a rule of thumb, don’t use it when there is no emergency situation.
Hey, thanks a lot. I was just thinking about Google Cache. Beat me to it. xD
How it happended? I’m using Live Writer to publish most of my content. And I accidently opened the last Spell Focus post to copy the template. Sadly I forgot to save it as a new post, and just submitted it. That’s the way I managed to kill the post.
