Massive Info on WotLK

WotLK

Blizzard released a lot of information just recently to the press. I’ve been just reading the news and wanted to sum the most exiting changes here.

I’m very exited about the information. It’s first hand, dependable and, best of all, I like the changes very much. They are reducing the gap between the large and the smaller raids by merging the concept of heroic dungeons with the raiding concept. Just read on to find out what the hell I am talking about. :-D

  • Raids
    • Just like every 5-man dungeon will feature a heroic and a normal mode, every raid dungeon will feature a 10- and a 25-player mode.
      • The loot will be about one Tier higher in the 25-player capped mode, but the content remains the same.
      • Both modes will have separate a lockout-ID, so you will be able to do the 10- and the 25-player mode once per week.
    • There will be no attunements for raid dungeons.
  • Deathknight
    • No pre-quest necessary, all you need is at least one character of level 55 or higher on the server you want to create your deathknight on.
    • You can only have one deathknight per server.
    • The deathknight starts at level 55 and will go through a quest chain that will introduce it’s abilities and storyline to the player right from the start.
    • The class has it’s own mount. Just like the paladin, I suppose.
    • It seems there will be 6 different types of runes, rather then the three (Frost, Blood & Unholy) we knew until now.
    • There will be "Runic Powers" unlockable. They are described to be similar to finishing moves.
    • The spell "Raise Dead" will be castable on any fallen mob or player (ally or enemy alike). It will create a ghoul that is controllable by the deathknight. It seems that it will be possible to control more than a single undead at a time. I suppose the pet interface will do nicely, as long as the undead pets act as a mob.
    • Similar to paladins, the deathknight has auras. They are called presences and will only work only for the deathknight him/herself.
    • There will be no special equipment for deathknights before the tier-sets. They will look as "funny" as everyone else. ;-)
  • Leveling
    • It will take an amount of time that is compareable to the leveling in the Burning Crusade to go from 70 to 80.
    • However there will be a lot more quests in Northrend than there were in Outland.
    • As soon as Northrend will be open for business, the leveling speed will be increased for the level 60-70. Just like it was done with the level 20-60 before.
    • Players will be able to get their first mount at level 30.
    • Your flying mounts will be usable in Northrend as soon as you reach level 77.
    • The continent of Northrend will be a lot larger than Outland.
  • A pre-expansion patch will be delivered again, this time. It will introduce the new talents and more, just like it was done with the Burning Crusade.

On a side note, it was mentioned that the summonable boss of the midsummer festival, Lord Ahune (if I remember correctly), will be present on both normal and heroic Steamvaults. So it may be possible that he will feature two different loot tables. Just a speculation, though.

Have fun and take care! :-)
