Boss Focus: The Opera - Red Riding Hood

In a Nutshell

The opera is accessible as soon as you have killed Moroes. You need to talk to Barnes, the Stage Manager, in order to start one of three possible events.

This post is about the most random (read: un-fun) event, the one about Red Riding Hood. The event is basically a tank and spank with a little twist.

Rundown

The Red Riding Hood event is the only one that will not start immediately when Barnes is finished with his speech. Instead you will see an elderly woman standing on the center of the stage, awaiting some conversation.

As soon as you maintank introduces him/herself to the nice old woman, she will turn into the big, bad wolf and attack him/her.

The wolf will always melee the primary aggro holder and let loose an occasional short-duration AE Fear. Fear Ward is not vital but a nice convenience for this encounter. Try to keep it up, but don’t neglect your duties over it.

Watch out for

Every now and then, the Big Bad Wolf will transform a random player into the Red Riding Hood. The player transform into a female gnome wearing a red dress and a hood. As soon as this happens, the Big Bad Wolf will ignore his hate list and chase the poor player until he or she is dead, or the debuff runs out. As soon as a player gets this debuff, throw him/her a Power World: Shield and start to spam heals on him/her. Try not to waste mana, but keeping that player alive is very important.

If you are the unlucky recipient of the Red Riding Hood debuff, try to keep your distance from the wolf that will be chasing you. Just hug the walls of the stage and run. Try not to get to far away from him, though. If you do, and turn around a stage corner, he may shortcut, and catch up to you.

Healing Roles

There are no real assignments to be given here. Just keep your tank and the Red Riding Hood alive.

Rewards

As soon as the Big Bas Wolf hits the floor, you can try to get your hands on the Red Riding Hood’s Cloak. Similar to all other Opera events, you may also be lucky and get the Ribbon of Sacrifice.
